Titanion is another game from the creator of Tumiki Fighters. It’s a vertically scrolling fast paced shoot em up that lacks variety which becomes apparent after the first ten or so waves of enemies that attack the ship of the player.
The player moves his ship with the arrow keys, shoots with CTRL and uses a Tractor Beam with ALT to attach enemy ships to his own ship. That’s a variation of the way Tumiki Fighters handles that. Reminds me a lot of Space Invaders.
The game can be played in windowed or full screen mode and the player can choose between three games modes: Classic, Modern and Basic.
Basic mode provides unlimited use of the tractor beam while it can only be used for a short time in Classic mode where it replenishes over time. Hitting an enemy ship in basic mode knocks the player’s ship away while it is destroyed in classic mode.
The modern mode on the other hand is different from the other two. You can use the beam to make the enemies aggressive so that they fire more bullets in shorter time which increase the score multiplier. There is also no collision between your ship and enemy ships, they simply pass through each other.
