Monsters’ Den: Book of Dread is actually the second installment in the Monsters’ Den series. Both games have been published at Kongregate and are a huge success if you consider the rating and games played so far.
Monsters’ Den is a tactical roleplaying game, or a roleplaying game with turn based combat whichever you like more. Your party of four, made up of standard roleplaying characters like the warrior, cleric, mage or ranger has to clear level by level of the game

Each level is made up of rooms and hallways that are connected to each other. The basic goal of each level is to find the stair that leads to the next level. The party can find treasure, healing and enemies in the various rooms which drop loot after defeating them
Combat is turn based and every character has the option to attack, pause, use an item or a special ability. A mage for example can attack with his staff (one enemy), a fireball (one to four enemies) or try to freeze an enemy character.
With each passing level the characters advance as well which makes them stronger. The player can pick new skills and increase the four primary stat strength, endurance, dexterity and intellect which all have a direct effect on certain powers and abilities.
Monsters’ Den Book of Dread is an interesting game that will appeal to players who like turn based combat and roleplaying games. It becomes a little bit repetitive after a while but the quest for powerful items will be enough to keep players going, especially those WOW players when WOW is in maintenance mode.
