Armed with wings (via Donation Coder) is a beautiful action game with some puzzle elements that blend well into the game. Vengeance is the main motivation of the game. The hero, executed by the villain of the game, comes back to the world through divine means and with the power co conjure an eagle to help in the quest for vengeance.
The character is armed with an ancient Japanese blade called Katana that can be used to strike down enemies. A special command summons an eagle for a few moments that can perform several tasks. It can scout ahead, distract enemies and solve some of the puzzles in the game.
The controls look somewhat complicated at the beginning and it is definitely a good idea to play the tutorial before jumping straight into the game. Basic movement is controlled with the arrow keys, y performs a sword attack and three y a combo attack. X is being used to block enemy attacks.
The eagle is summoned with A which will also release the eagle again before the time runs out. S will make the eagle pick up an object on the ground, keep it pressed to fly the object to another destination and D finally keeps the eagle in place and gives the player control of the character again.
The overall theme of the game blends well with the black and white graphics. What makes this game special is the strategic element that is added by the eagle. It is essential to use the eagle to distract enemies and to solve puzzles, mainly to fly rocks or keys from one location in the level to buttons and locks that clear the path for the character.
Several boss enemies await the player until he can finally meet the main villain of the game to get his vengeance. Armed with Wings is an excellent game that lives from its atmosphere and strategy that is added by the eagle.
