jams match

I never bought a lot of music CDs which is the main reason why I suck in games like Jams Match that force you to combine album cover art with album titles in a short period of time. Would not it be for the different genres I would probably end up with one or two hits only and probably none in the Hip Hop/Rap and Electronic/Dance genre.

Five genres, metal, indie / alternative and rock&pop besides the two mentioned previously and one difficulty level from three has to be chosen to start the game. The player has 30 seconds on the novice level to drag nine of the available twelve album cover arts on the nine fields with album titles.

Each successful combination will be awarded with 10 points, a mismatch brings a reduction by 5 points and no match brings zero points. Intermediate and Expert levels bring in two and three times the points respectively.

It’s a fun game where I’m spending most of the time trying to decipher the album title from the tiny thumbnails that can be dragged to the album title fields. Most unfortunately are either unreadable or not there at all. Mean.

music catch

Music Catch is a relaxing music game which makes it perfect for a short break of 5-10 minutes. The player takes control of an orb that can be moved with the mouse to collect particles that are appearing from a rotating line.

The goal of the game is to catch as many particles as possible before the game ends which will be the case after one and a half rotations. Yellow particles multiply bonus points, violet particles attract every other particle for a short while except for the red particles which reduce the collected bonus.

The game is pretty simply and the only motivation to play it again is to beat the previous high score but as I said earlier it’s providing a nice way to relax for a few minutes. The music and effects of Music Catch are well done and it’s fun to play the game. Collecting the particles does not seem to have an effect on the music which would have been nice.

music bounce

I cannot keep a rhythm for long, musically retarded so to speak. I hate music games, really. All those Singstars, Rockbands and Guitar Heroes. Was never good at them, will never be. Music Bounce is a music game and I like it.

Yeah that sounds crazy but I do not have to sing nor do I have to press a few buttons a million times in the right order to beat the game. It’s more about strategy than anything else.

The game board consists of 15 lines. Some of the lines contain different colored bricks which represent music notes. The aim of the game is to release enough balls on the left side so that all bricks get hit. The number of balls, or gates as they are called in the game, is limited and timing is essential to beat the later stages of the game.

In later stages some of the blocks have to be hit twice, those are the darker colored blocks. It basically comes down to finding the best timing for the amount of balls that are available to hit all the blocks of a level to advance to the next level.

50 levels are available on the Kongregate website and more than 500 await the player on the developers website that hosts user generated ones. It is also possible to create your own level.

Music Bounce is an excellent game for the short break.
