Wonderful Metal Gear Solid 4 review. Enjoy

diablo 3

The new Blizzard game that was unveiled yesterday will be Diablo 3! Diablo 2 was probably the computer game that I played the most in all of my life. I can only think of one other game that I could have played that much and that was the original Unreal Tournament game.

I have the feeling that Diablo 3 will be a smash hit unlike the sequels of Unreal Tournament that sucked so much that I vowed never to touch an Epic game again.

I do not want to rehash all the news that have been posted on all websites about Diablo 3. Instead I would like to concentrate on the differences between Diablo 3 and other sequels that could not live up to their hype. What’s Blizzard doing that others are not ?

The key element in my opinion is the simple formula Gameplay > Graphics. Blizzard games play perfectly when they come out and patches usually only add new content or correct game elements.

If you look at Blizzard games you realize that they are never at the top of their class graphical wise. They all have a very nice look and feeling but they are missing the graphical deception that many modern games like to concentrate on. What those games are usually missing is the fun of playing that game.

Blizzard games are fun to play and well balanced which is the reason why they are so successful.

diablo 3

Both Diablo 3 and Starcraft 2 look like modern versions of the classic games. They do not try to change things that worked in the past but concentrate on elements that they can improve to produce a better game.

I do not need water reflections, realistic looking opponents, lighting and shadow effects if they do not add to my fun.

bouncing

A Game About Bouncing is a stylish action game where the player takes the role of a a ball that moves by grabbing bumpers while dashing to avoid missiles. The game got the People’s Choice Award at this years Toronto Game Jam where developers try to create games on a three day deadline. Sounds like lots of fun, don’t you think ?

Tons of polish, stylized graphics, a soundtrack that elevates the gameplay, and an original mechanic that takes time to master. Incredible.

Wonderful game and if you are at the website make sure to check out the other 34 games that are available as free downloads there !

lionheart

Lionheart was a game for the Commodore Amiga back in 1992. It was developed by Thalion and some dedicated folks have decided to create a remake of this side-scrolling jump and run game.

The game did push the limits of the Amiga computers a bit further and was one of the best looking titles for the Amiga back in the days.

lionheart

I remember that I found the controls a bit awkward and clumsy which could probably be attributed to the fact that most processing power went right into graphics and effects.

The remake of Lionheart is well done and can be played on most Windows computers. The interface is English / French and it is possible to set the controls for the game in the Options. There are not a lot of them though. Up, Down, Left, Right, Jump and Attack that’s it.

lionheart

There is some attack variety because pressing the attack button alone does nothing. An attack needs a direction before the character moves his only weapon, a sword, into that direction.

Music and sounds effects are very nice as well and absolutely Amiga like. I still love those !
